Heads and tales
Back from sick leave -- not the bird flu! ;)
The highlights and lowlights of the headlines for October 16, 2005:
- Pakistan Quake Death Toll Nears 40,000, AP -- I must have missed the star-spangled Hollywood relief telethon for this disaster. Was there something that made the tsunami a more chic calamity, when the Pakistanis need help just as bad?
- Emergency Declared After Anti-Nazi Riots, AP -- Actually, the best way to prove the two dozen neo-Nazis wrong would have been to ignore their little march. But I guess we're past that point now.
- Richardson to Play Role in N. Korea Talks, AP -- Why? Is he bored running New Mexico? Or does he just want to beef up his international street cred to take a stab at Hillary in '08?
- Nazi hunter says top war criminal may be in Spain, Reuters -- Catch 91-year-old Dr. Death quick before he dies.
- Al-Qaida barber arrested, Reuters -- In what was more than just a close shave with authorities, man was nabbed day before Abu Azzam got arrested...
- Bird flu in Europe confirmed, Gulf News -- The real question is, will this brouhaha help or hurt the box-office take for Disney's "Chicken Little"?
"Jesus -- the sky really IS falling!!! The CDC told me so!!"

Glad you're back--I've been worried, and I've desperately missed the Heads and Tails segment...
