Heads and tales
The highlights and lowlights of the headlines for January 26, 2006:
- Gunman Holding 3 Hostage at Calif. Bank, AP -- In Exeter. I've passed through Exeter before. There's nothing else to do but hold hostages there. And there are slightly more people in town than the number of hostages taken.
- Fatah Party: Hamas Wins Palestnian Vote, AP -- Oh joy. Brings new meaning to the phrase terrorist state: It's not just that the state sponsors terrorism, but the parliament has terrorists!
- Hiccups lead to two deaths, Reuters -- And it's not how you might think...
- Gang killings put L.A. on course as murder capital, Daily Telegraph -- Highest levels of Compton murders in 10 years ... guess that Tookie Protocol for Peace was a little overrated, eh?
- From King of Pop to Queen of Arabia, Arab News -- Michael Jackson prancing around in women's garb should go over well in the Arab world. (Kudos to Arab News for a great headline!)
The abaya's one thing, but the hoods make his kids look like extras in a jihadist kidnapping video
