Quote of the day
There is no contest. It's Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni in the Knesset on Tuesday:
"I, too, saw (Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad) Siniora cry yesterday, and we too cry over our dead. But this is the place to tell him to dry his tears and start to take action in order to create a better future, a more normal future, first of all for the civilians he is crying over."
Yeah, brother, quit blubbering and commence with the Hezbollah explusion. Tzipi rocks.

Siniora could issue the orders you suggest, and nothing would happen. A good share of the Lebanese armed forces Shiite. Re-arming the opposing sectarian militias does not look fruitful either.
Look, even with a US occupation force on hand, Maliki can't tell Iraq's police to arrest the Mahdi Army or Muqtada either. Lebanese authorities are equally helpless.
Like it or not, Israel's first occupation of Lebanon engendered Hezbollah. The current one has strenthened it by destroying any competing authority. Nasarallah is alive and braying. More pointless destruction is less security. Neither whack-a-mole or kill-'em-all are any way to win.

Oh so now the Israelis invented Hezbollah. Now you is smart. The Israelis left Southern Lebanon thanks to Waco Bill. Were not the Clinton years just so great. WACO , OKC, Somalia, Osama Bin Nice. It all makes you want to cry.

Perhaps jkoch can enlighten us then on the correct course of action ahead.... Which diplomatic option do you use to reign in murderous terrorists that have launched 3,333 indiscriminate missiles into predominately civilian areas? Maybe we can ivite them to a camp fire singalong and just resolve the whole thing. Or maybe jkoch would rather all the Israelites to just drop dead.
There doesn't seem to be anything "pointless" about killing terrorists before they kill you. That is just pretty garden variety conventional self-defense. I'd lay good odds on the fact that jkock has never been under a missile attack. Please correct me if I am wrong here....

"There doesn't seem to be anything "pointless" about killing terrorists before they kill you."
I agree Jingoistic Jon. It really is that simple. When Halsey was asked what were three things America could do to win the war he said "kill japs, kill japs, kill japs." Simple, but effective.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here, and assume he meant to imply that the method with which Israel is going about killing the terrorists isn't being particularly effective. To some extent, this appears to be true, considering the rocket attacks appear to be intensifying as each week passes.
Proposed solutions to such a dilemma do seem to be lacking, though. Whack away, Israel.

Israel is fighting or has fought a non war and Hezbullah has won so far.
