Huck is Hot
While on a trip to Atlanta I had a chance to catch the Republican debate. The debate started with Mitt and Rudy hammering each other on immigration and both came out looking bad. You could tell it was a soft spot for both of them since they both looked about as embarrassed as a stripper at a tent revival.
From where I was sitting Huckabee came out on top once again. When he was poked about immigration, Huckabee defended himself rather than try to deflect and make excuses, which made both Mitt and Rudy look worse by comparison. Huckabee also got some more airtime for the Fairtax, which always seems to make the other candidates look uncomfortable. John McCain showed why they are uncomfortable as he tried to pooh-pooh the Fair tax and defend the current steaming pile of crap we now call our tax code. It’s like trying to defend Britney Spears right to have a baby.
I was pretty amused when one of the questions basically asked Ron Paul if he was a complete nut. Paul basically answered he wasn’t completely nutty or at least not as nutty as some of his followers. Paul’s answer won the award for the most disturbing of the night.

I was impressed how Huckabee can take his faith seriously (like defending the authority of Scripture) yet also maintain his sense of humor (saying Jesus would never run for public office). I'll been a life-long Democrat, but I'm seriously thinking of registering Republican so I can vote for Huck in the primary.

I only saw part of the debate (yes, I have a little life;) but I really liked Huckabee's answer on believing the Bible. Romney's answered was stupid and then he looked worse after Huckabee did well.

When I was in the States (June-Oct) Huckabee really did impress me
I must concede, though, that some of his viewpoints via-a-vis immigration (sorry Bridget) and some of his.. economic history.. less than impress me.

Huckabee does not have everything I like either. As for immigration, all these yahoos winked at the illegals for decades but they are all listening now. I am also concerned about some of Huckabee’s economic history but when you consider he had Democrats in control of everything he had to go along to get along. The fact that he has promised to not raise taxes and try and give us real tax reform calms my nerves on the economic front. None of the other candidates have any real bold ideas so I like Mike.
