Paul Popped
In my opinion, every Republican candidate has the potential to be a good President with one exception, Ron Paul. Since I live in Texas, I have been familiar with Paul for some time and I personally know some hard core Paulistas. While many of Paul’s supporters I know would have you believe that Paul is the last knight defending the constitution, it does not take long before the conversation turns to black helicopters and dark conspiracies. It really starts to get creepy when you are told that 9-11 was an inside job and the "Jews" were in on it.
I always tended to pass off many of the nuttier Paul supporters as exceptions rather than the rule but it turns out their views are not out of line with many of Ron Paul’s own views. The New Republic has dug up numerous quotes from Ron Paul newsletters that leave little doubt Paul is a racist and a conspiracy connoisseur. These are from Ron Paul’s own newsletters so unless Paul claims he did not read his own newsletter, I don’t see how he can disavow knowledge.
Paul supporters owe it to themselves to read the racist ranting of Ron Paul. I expect most reasonable people to quit supporting Paul after his views become more widely known. I certainly understand the anger driven by both Republican and Democrat insistence on taxing, spending, and legislating every aspect of our lives, but Ron Paul is not the answer and if you believe his newsletters, he never was.

Bridget I've been a big supported of Ron Paul but reading the article made me even more supportive.
THATS RIGHT
Why? -Because all this nonsense has been refuted before...it's all cheesy mudslinging by the elites who control the media "That would be you"
Look at all the comments to the article.
You make yourself to be an even bigger joke each day.

First, Bridget did not write the article about Ron Paul, I did. I am a regular citizen and not “an elite controlling the media”. I am for smaller government and lower taxes, I own a gun, and I served as a U.S. Marine.
Also, I read the press release put out by Ron Paul and it refutes nothing. Reuters, a real news agency as you call it, did not write the press release, it was a statement by Ron Paul. Paul does not deny that the racist quotes came from newsletters bearing his name. Paul only says that he did not edit the newsletter but never denies he read the newsletter although he does claim to have not paid “closer attention to what went out under my name”.
Paul would have me believe that for years he was unaware that people were writing racist statements and conspiracy fables under his name and he had no idea. He did not read his own newsletter? Is that what you want me to believe? What kind of idiot does not read what is being written under his name FOR YEARS? Would that be Ron Paul?
If Ron Paul did not endorse those views, he should have written his own article under his own name in his own newsletter informing people he did not endorse those views. He should have publicly demanded a retraction and had whoever was writing that stuff fired. But no, Paul would have you believe that newsletter after newsletter over a long period of time he was blissfully ignorant of what was being written under his name. Only years later after he is trying to appeal to a broader audience does he “denounce such small minded thoughts.” If I were willing to suspend common sense and believe such a lame excuse, I truly would be a fool.
If you still wish to support Paul you have a choice; You can believe that Paul was stupid enough to have a bunch of conspiracy spouting racists write a newsletter under his name and that he was brainless enough not to even read his own newsletter or you can believe he actually believes what was written. Pick your poison.

I would worry even more about a guy who doesn't read his own newsletters, or know what is being said in his name. Does not sound like he would be a good candidate for the top office in the land.

Actually, Ron Paul did fire a guy that wrote some of the stuff in his newsletter. That was a looong time ago.
Why isn't that being reported?
Also, NY Times retracted their report of these same bogus allegations.
It's real simple. Read those offensive articles then those of Ron Paul. You'll notice a stark difference in writing style.

Just because some Newspaper writes something claiming this and that doesn't make it truth. What they also like to do is taking something that's there and spin it around.
And more and more people are realizing that.
Now with the internet the media is starting to lose control over their sheeple.

Just because a newspaper writes something does not make it true, but that does not mean it’s a lie either. What about something written in a Ron Paul newsletter; are those statements true? I’m not saying that Ron Paul wrote all the disgusting statements in his newsletter but he did allow it to go out under his name, a FACT that Paul does not deny. He might have fired one person but did that person write all the “stuff”. No? Then why weren’t the guys that wrote the rest of the “stuff” fired? We are talking about dozens of comments over years. You can’t escape the fact that Paul was either stupid enough to allow racist writings to go out under his name over a long period of time or he agreed with the writings. I’m sorry but you can’t blame the MSM for something that was written in the RON PAUL NEWSLETTERS over several years.
You can however keep calling me sheeple, a tool, or elite if that’s what helps you get through the day. I have been dealing with Paulista’s a long time and name-calling is often their only reply when they can’t argue facts so I am used to it.

Every candidate has flip flopped on one or more issues. Ron Paul still has my vote in the primaries. If he is not on the ballot in November then I will vote Libertarian. Thanks for opening my eyes Dr. Paul!!!
