Two Wrongs Make a Wright

The spinmiesters on Obama spiritual mentor Reverend Wright are now saying the good Reverend is not a bad guy; he was simply taken out of context. The problem is that when you look at the context of what he says, it’s actually worse. Wright spews many more anti-American and racially divisive comments than have been widely reported. Obama himself has written some racially divisive comments that may garner more scrutiny when he becomes the official democrat nominee.

Wright is not doing Obama any favors by trying to repair the damage by downplaying the comments. Minimizing the seriousness of such comments didn’t work for David Duke, Ron Paul, or Don Imus and most people are painfully aware of the double standard Obama and his supporters employ. Obama supporters have already tried to unfairly paint opponents as racists by claiming the use of "code words". Obama does not go out of his way to denounce such racially divisive innuendo which devastates his claim to be a racial healer. Wright's attempts to spin his comments only serve to highlight Obama's hypocrisy.

What is the Color of Money?

NBC is finally going to quit stroking itself with its feel good "Going Green" campaign. It’s just another one of those campaigns that try to make you feel like driving your car is akin to clubbing baby seals. What I really enjoyed about NBCs campaign is the commercials. The first Going Green commercial I saw was followed by a BMW commercial advertising a Beemer with enough horsepower to break the sound barrier if you stomped on the accelerator hard enough.

If NBC or any other greenie wants anyone to take them seriously they need to take the lead. If they want people to sacrifice, they need to start. So here are some suggestions NBC can use to show they really care about the planet. NBC can start by taking no ads for gas or diesel vehicles, bottled water, oil companies, etc. Oh yeah, don’t advertise anything from parent company GE until all their appliances run on solar power. Give up a little green NBC and you might convince me you are truly serious about saving the planet. Otherwise, leave me and my turbo diesel seal clubber alone.

The Sun is Not Al's Friend

Al Gore “is very careful not to upset any of his celebrity friends” according to a recent article by The Sun (the newspaper not the gaseous mass). According to The Sun, “He [Al Gore the gaseous mass] wouldn’t dream of suggesting that their lavish jet-setting and gas-guzzling lifestyles could be reined in for the good of the environment.” When asked about having David Beckham and Posh give up their fleet of gas guzzlers for a Prius, Gore responded, “I don’t think that’s my place. I don’t want to get into personally criticizing anyone.” Of course, Gore had no problem personally criticizing President Bush in the next breath saying “…no one could be worse than George W Bush in actively working against the cause.” Then again, with more and more top scientists jumping off the global warming bandwagon, Gore may just be paying Bush a great compliment.

Keep hanging on to global warming no matter how cold it gets Al.

Desecrating America's Symbols

As a former active duty Marine, I find Time’s new cover in poor taste. We should not forget that half of the men in that famous picture died on Iwo Jima and using them as shills for global warmers is repulsive. Perhaps if Al Gore’s name shows up on a global warming casualty list with a bunch of A list celebrities, I’ll feel differently. Since they won’t even sacrifice their Bentleys and private jets for their cause, I won’t hold my breath. The extent of their sacrifice seems to be making regular people like me ride the bus and use a push mower.

Not to be outdone when desecrating American symbols, University of Maine student Susan Crane decided to put Old Glory on the hallway floors of her school for a Art in politics class to see if people would walk on them. Her father, described as "a veteran" actually helped place the flags on the floor. Since we are not told what Mr. Crane is a veteran of, I am guessing he is a veteran of doing other idiotic things that he did not think through very well. Both the Cranes were "surprised" at the angry comments their little art project caused by people that "identified themselves as veterans and republicans". Apparently, no democrats objected.

If all this was not bad enough, Barack Obama was seen wearing a flag pin which he has described as false patriotism. At least he took it off for the debate.

A new low for Barbara Boxer

This from The Politico:

"While Pope Benedict XVI's historic visit to Washington received wall to wall coverage, Sen. Barbara Boxer briefly held up a Senate resolution welcoming the pontiff because she objected to language about how the pope values 'each and every human life.'

The measure later cleared the Senate Thursday afternoon after the sponsor of the resolution, Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.), dropped the reference to 'human life' because some Democrats saw it as a reference to abortion. According to Republican aides, Brownback, a devout Catholic, did not want a high profile fight over the resolution, which was adopted on a voice vote. In fact, Brownback blackberried his staff from the Pope's mass at Nationals Park to direct them to drop the references to human life.

...'There was some politics involved here, and the objectionable language has been withdrawn,' a senior Democratic Senate aide said.

Three Senate Republican aides involved in the issue say that Boxer objected to the 'life' language, which Democrats see as an implicit reference to the Catholic church's opposition to abortion."

This was the part of the original resolution they raised a fuss over:

"Whereas Pope Benedict XVI has spoken out for the weak and vulnerable, witnessing to the value of each and every human life;"

Wow. WOW. Unfreakin' believable. How completely cold-blooded has American politics gotten when lawmakers object to giving value to human life? "Objectionable language"??? Particularly in praising the good deeds of the pope?

In the pic, btw, Benedict is celebrating life -- his 81st birthday, to be exact. Surely that shameless celebration of human life will earn him a censure from the Boxer wing at this rate.

Khalilzad leaving as U.N. ambassador

Well, eventually, according to the Afghan-born Zalmay Khalilzad, who claims that he has no interest in running for the presidency of Afghanistan but instead wants to go to into the private sector (how about a judge on the next season of "Afghan Star"?):

"'My decision is that I will resign from my official work in the next few months and start a private business,' Khalilzad told Afghanistan's Ariana Television Network in Dari, one the country's main languages. His comments were translated by The Associated Press.

Richard Grenell, Khalilzad's spokesman at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, said Khalilzad 'has no immediate plans to resign.'"

I'll always remember chatting with Khalilzad as he downed a chicken sandwich with gusto after landing in L.A. days after I had my wisdom teeth yanked, but I also know that the challenges faced at the U.N. may require someone with a little more, er, Bolton. Khalilzad danced around some questions and went light-n-easy on pretty straightforward topics, such as Syria's involvement in the assassination of Rafik Hariri. Honestly, I think he'd be a much better Afghan president than U.N. ambassador.
